I am John B. McCuskey and I would be honored to serve as your West Virginia State Auditor. It has been a privilege to serve as your delegate in the 35th district, and I want to continue to work tirelessly not only for the Kanawha Valley, but for our great state.
It’s no secret that decades of one party rule have left the economy of our state in trouble, and as a result, we face significant budgetary problems. I believe that a powerful auditor, who works hard to ensure that every penny of your hard earned tax dollars is spent properly, is essential in this time of change.
As part of a new team for our state, I want to achieve an accountable and efficient government that works for all West Virginians. I am confident that with smarter policies in our state government, we can provide our citizens with a quality education, an improved transportation system and an economic environment where businesses and people can thrive without increasing the burden on taxpayers.
I was raised in Charleston. I furthered my education at The George Washington University where I graduated with a degree in Political Communication. Before attending and graduating from the WVU College of Law, I worked as a civilian for the Department of Defense at The Pentagon in the offices of the Army and DOD General Counsels. Currently, I am an attorney at Steptoe & Johnson, PLLC practicing in the Energy Litigation Group. I believe that all of these experiences leave me uniquely qualified to step in and lead our auditor’s office into a new era of prosperity.
If elected, I will stand up for the hard working taxpayers of West Virginia to ensure that your dollars are spent to move our state forward onto a path of prosperity.
